Good Time Roundup at County Museum
Tickets are now on sale for the San Bernardino County Museum
Association’s Good Time Roundup. The fund-raising event
is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, from 5:30 p.m. ‘til
the cows come home. The Museum Association is a non-profit organization
that supports membership and programs for the San Bernardino County
Museum.
“Raising funds to help support museum operations and programs
is part of our mission,” said John Thornes, president of
the Museum Association’s board of directors. “This
year we’ve planned a lively party with an emphasis on fun,
but the western theme reflects an important part of our cultural
heritage.”
The Good Time Roundup starts at 5:30 p.m. when guests receive
a map leading them to special parts of the museum that emphasize
western heritage. Museum curatorial staff will be on hand to offer
insights about how the collections relate to the west. At 6:30
p.m. Riley’s Band will start playing old-timey music and
a chuck wagon barbeque will be served in the museum courtyard.
A wide variety of goods and services have been donated by community
merchants for a silent (but rowdy) auction, which will be ongoing
around the dance floor as guests kick up their heels in country
and western dances. In keeping with the occasion, dress is “country
cool.”
Major sponsors of the Good Time Roundup are The Sun, Emerson-Farrar
Jewelers, the Board of Directors of the San Bernardino County
Museum Association, Friends of Calico, Toyota of San Bernardino,
Wells Fargo, and Parkwest Printing.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street
exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. Tickets for the Good Time
Roundup are $45 per person, and because space is limited, advance
reservations are required. Parking is free, and the facility is
handicapped-accessible. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org
or call the Museum Association at (909) 307-2669 extension 225 / TDD/TTY: (909) 792-1462.
