Family Fun Day at the County Museum
The San Bernardino County Museum invites museum visitors to “Live Like a Family in the 1880s” by participating in Family Fun Day activities on Saturday, October 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Have you ever tried cleaning a rug by beating it?” asked Nancy Kirkwood, museum educator. “We’ll be beating rugs, washing clothes on a washboard, grinding corn, stitching a sampler, and even making adobe bricks that you can take home. Kids will love to make and take their own corn husk dolls and whirly-gigs home to play with. We’ll also have some old-fashioned toys for people to fool around with here, like telephone cans and jacks.”
Family Fun Days are specially designed for families with children ages 3 and older, although children of all ages are welcome to participate. Members of the Museum Youth Club and the museum’s education division develop and lead these free activities to create interactive learning opportunities that are fun for adults and children working together.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
