How can you start a rock collection? How do you identify rocks that you already have? Families are invited to discover rocks and minerals together at a San Bernardino County Museum family workshop on Saturday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Suggested ages are 6 years old through adults.
The cost for this 3-hour workshop is $12.00 for each family member; the cost for Museum Association members is $9.00 per family member. Pre-registration and payment are required by March 8 at 4:30 p.m. and space is limited. Registration fees include general museum admission. A registration form is available at www.sbcountymuseum.org or at the museum’s front desk.
After the workshop, families can learn more about minerals in the museum collections and exhibit designs for the museum’s planned Hall of Geological Wonders when Curator of Geology Chris Sagebiel presents “Sneak Preview III: Minerals” at 2:00 p.m. at the museum. Sagebiel’s gallery talk is free with museum admission.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12).
