Museum offers sneak preview of new exhibit hall
Senior Curator of Geological Sciences Kathleen Springer will give a gallery talk, “Sneak Preview I: The Hall of Geological Wonders” at the San Bernardino County Museum on Saturday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. The gallery talk is free with museum admission.
Springer will introduce visitors to plans for a new three-story, 12,000 ft2 wing at the museum that will feature exhibit galleries about the geology, mineralogy, and paleontology of inland Southern California and the southwest. The hall is entering the final architectural and exhibit design stages of the planning process with groundbreaking by the end of the year. The Hall of Geological Wonders will be a one-of-a kind experience for the visitor, showcasing exhibits that interpret the forces of nature that have shaped our region with the fossil remains that exist today as a testament to a changing landscape and climate.
Kathleen Springer is the Senior Curator of Geological Sciences for the San Bernardino County Museum. She has an extensive background in both geology and paleontology and has been with the SBCM for nearly 19 years leading geologic and paleontologic investigations throughout southern California, Arizona, and Nevada. Kathleen is a resident of Claremont, California.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12).
