SCALES AND TAILS AT COUNTY MUSEUM
See and touch some common reptiles at “Scales and Tails,”
a Family Fun Day at the San Bernardino County Museum on Sunday,
August 28 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“Some people love them and some people don’t, but
nobody can avoid reptiles,” said Nancy Kirkwood, museum
educator. “For this program, we’ll introduce families
to common reptiles that live around us, such as lizards and gopher
snakes, along with some more exotic creatures that live in the
museum’s Exploration Station.”
Volunteers from the Museum Youth Club will assist with activities
related to reptiles, talk about their favorite reptiles, and discuss
reptiles that slither, walk, dig, and swim.
“Kids can make a snake to take home that their mom will
let them keep!” explained Kirkwood. “They can even
try to smell like a snake does.”
A $1 materials fee is requested for craft activities in addition
to museum admission. The San Bernardino County Museum is at the
California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. General
admission is $6 (adult), $5 (senior or student) and $4 (child
aged 5 to 12). Children under 5 and Museum Association members
are admitted free. Parking is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible.
Lunch, snacks, and beverages are available at the museum’s
Garden Café from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information,
