Family Fun Day in the Museum Gardens

Enjoy "Springtime in the Garden" at the San Bernardino County Museum on Saturday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum Youth Club will sponsor activities especially designed for families with children 3 to 12 years old. See walking sticks, leaf insects, and other garden creatures up close and personal. Learn the ins-and-outs of metamorphosis while making a mobile. Play some garden games. Make a design with real leaves and other plant materials, and see it become a "sun print" to take home. The metamorphosis mobile and sun print activities are $1.00 each, with museum admission. Games and bug experiences are free with museum admission.

Museum visitors will also enjoy the museum's permanent galleries and see several special exhibits: "Beauty for the Hand and Eye," featuring Guatemalan textile techniques; "UnEarthed! fossils in the museum collections;" "Outdoor Adventures in San Bernardino County," a display of photographs from the museum archives; and "Native American Traditions: Hopi Katsinas," an exhibit of Katsina (Kachina) dolls from the museum collections sponsored in part by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. General admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child 5-12). Children under 5 and members of the Museum Association are admitted free. Parking is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible.
