Astronomy at the County Museum
The San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers will join the education
division of the San Bernardino County Museum to share telescopes
for views of the solar system on Saturday evening, April 24 at
the museum in Redlands. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
and is offered at no charge in recognition of National Astronomy
Day.
A variety of high-powered telescopes will be set up outside the
museum so visitors can explore the craters on the moon, the rings
around Saturn, the banded surface of Jupiter, and Venus as a crescent.
Members of the Amateur Astronomers will be on hand to assist with
viewing and explain what viewers are seeing.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit
from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through
Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 (adult),
$5 (senior or student) and $4 (child aged 5-12). Children under
5 and members of the Museum Association are admitted free. Parking
is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible. The museum's
Garden Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch,
snacks, and beverages. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org
