Ryan White Program

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act (formerly called the Ryan White CARE Act) was passed by Congress in 1990 with the purpose of improving
the quality of life for those affected by HIV/AIDS. It was re-authorized in 1996,
2000, and 2006. The act was named after Ryan White, a teenager from Indiana
who brought awareness of the epidemic through his struggle with HIV/AIDS and AIDS-related discrimination. In 1994, the Department of Public Health of San Bernardino County began receiving Ryan White Program funding to support programs in the Transitional Grant Area (TGA) of San Bernardino County and Riverside County. As of March 1, 2011, the TGA of San Bernardino County and Riverside County has 6 public and community-based organizations funded by the Ryan White Program that provide these services to those who lack health insurance and financial resources to care for their ailment.

To improve the access, quality, and delivery of services to consumers of Ryan White services.
